Windows 9 presentation conference

As news from se, Microsoft will hold Windows 9 OS presentation conference in US on 30th, Sept. Microsoft will introduce this new operation system in detail. Today, we have already received the invitation letter from Microsoft. In this conference, Microsoft will focus on enterprise users.

As schedule of Microsoft, it will launch a preview edition of Windows 9 OS after the conference. So users and developers can feed back their comments before the final edition is launched.

In the past weeks, we have already seen some pictures of this new OS. As our news, this new OS will own one new Start menu, and add new notification center and virtual desktop. In future, Microsoft will integrate voice assistant into this new operation system. The UI will also be changed a lot.

Till now, this preview edition of Windows 9 is still not ready, so we still can not know the detail information about it.

Tablet in wooden body

IFA 2014 trade show is closed recently. In the show, we have seen a lot of new tablets from China. One company from Austria launched a tablet in wooden body.

This tablet is coming with one 10.1 inch IPS screen, screen resolution is 1080P. It adopts one Intel processor. Unit runs Windows 8 operation system. The total weight is only 380G.

The company did not tell the detail specification of this unit. There is one special keyboard to connect with the unit. So it can work as a laptop PC as well.

This unit will be available for sale in Oct. The price is 1000 euros. It is quite expensive. Though, the detail information is unknown, but it should be quite excellent considering the price.

AARP RealPad, one special tablet for old man

Recently, AARP in US launched a new tablet pc for old man who are 50 ages or older. This tablet is named RealPad. That is one special tablet for old man. It contains rich content of entertainment, learning for old man.

As it is for old man, so operation of this RealPad is quite simple. Unit owns one 7.85 inch IPS screen, the size is similar as iPad Mini. Screen resolution is 1024*768 pixels. The icon on the screen is very big, so even you have a poor sight, you can see the screen clearly. RealPad has been pre installed a lot of apps, musics tools and games. More important, you don’t need to make a complicated operation to run the apps, just need to click the icon at the bottom of desktop.

This RealPad has one Intel Atom Z2520 dual core CPU, frequency is 1.2GHz. RAM is 1GB, and flash memory is 16GB. Bluetooth and GPS are available in unit. The front camera is 2M pixels, and rear one is 5M pixels.

Now, it is already available for sale in Ontablets.es, price is 189 US dollars.

Cheap 3G tablet from Nufront

Nufront is one old company in China, but it is not so well known in Spain. Recently, Nufront launched a very cheap 3G tablet.

In fact, several months ago, we have already made a report about one Nufront tablet, It is Telink 7689. That is one 8 inch quad core tablet pc. Its price is only 50 euros. Today, we have made a interview with Nufront. It told me, except this Telink 7689, there is another one 3G quad core tablet which is only 35 euros. That is quite a crazy price. More important, it has already been available for mass production, and in near future, we can see it in market. 

 

The Telink 7689 owns oen 8 inch screen, resolution is 1280*800 pixels. The CPU is Telink 7689 quad core which is developed by Nufront. RAM is 1GB, and flash memory is 8GB. The operation system is Android 4.2, but soon it will be upgraded to Android 4.4. The front camera is 0.3M pixels, and rear one is 2M pixels. Battery capacity is 4000Mah. It can support 3G network and users can surf internet and make calls on screen easily.

The other cheaper one is coming with 6.95 inch IPS screen, the CPU is also Telink 7689. Though, there is little information about it, but it will support 3G network as well for sure. 

From the above information, both units are not top one, but its price is really nice for users. We believe it will be available for sale within one month. 

One video of Apple iWatch

Recently, there is one video about Apple iWatch appeared on internet. The video is very short, only 14 seconds. From the video, we can see there is one Touch ID home button on the unit. Unit adopts one soft screen. And users put it close to other stuff, the screen will be automatically lighted up. That means this watch may come with one sensor built in.  So when you put up your hands and watch the time, unit will be lighten up automatically, and put hands down, screen will be lighten off.

On the top left of the screen, we can see an wifi icon. So wifi module should be available in this iWatch. On the screen, it displays the time and stock information. That means the iOS for this iWatch has already been refined. It is quite different with the Google Android Wear OS which is just one assistant device for your smartphone. 

 

The screen of the iWatch is one curved screen, so it must be one soft screen. The Touch ID function is to start Siri, and unlock the screen.

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 launched

Yesterday, in the IFA 2014 trade show, Huawei officially launched its latest 4G smart phone, Ascend Mate 7.

From 2013, Huawei launched the first Ascend Mate, it is a series of big screen smart phones. This Ascend Mate 7 is the third generation Mate smart phone. Its thickness is only 7.9mm. 

This Huawei Ascend Mate 7 firstly adopt the JDI IPS-NEOTM screen. Its contrast is 500:1. The screen resolution looks better, but its power consumption is lower. The screen size of this Ascend Mate 7 is 6 inch. Resolution is 1920*1080 pixels. The resolution is high, and the touch screen is also very sensitive. 

The CPU of this Mate 7 is Kirin 925 octa core processor. It integrates four Cortex A7, four Cortex A15, and one micro smart chips. Every core can run and close separately. Different with other smart phones, this unit can support dual 4G SIM card. You can choose TDD and FDD two different 4G network standards. Unit can support 4G LTE Cat 6. 

Unit owns 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. The front camera is 5M pixels and rear one is 13M pixels. ToucID function is also available by this smart phone.

Except the powerful performance, this unit owns a powerful battery, the capacity is 4100Mah. Usually, it can last unit working for over 2 days or watching videos for over 8 hours. 

It will land in HK, Europe, US and other countries in Sept. The 2GB RAM+16GB ROM is sold 500 euros, and 3GB RAM+32GB ROM is 600 euros. 

Toshiba Chromebook 2 specification

Before the IFA 2014 trade show, Acer and HP has already updated their Chromebook product line, and released some new Chromebook. Recently, Toshiba, one well known PC supplier from Japan, launched its latest Chromebook 2.

As news from Ontablets, this Toshiba Chromebook 2 will own two different editions. One edition will come with 13.3 inch IPS screen, screen resolution will be 1080P, and RAM is 4GB.  Another edition is also coming with 13.3 inch screen, but resolution is only 720P, and RAM is also only 2GB.

 

This new Chromebook 2 will adopt the Intel N2840 processor, but not the Haswell processor. The host has included USB3.0, HDMI, SD slot. Bluetooth is built in.

 

This Toshiba Chromebook 2 will be available in market in Oct. The 4GB RAM edition is 330 US dollars, and 2GB RAM edition is 250 US dollars.

HTC Nexus 8 will be available within this year

Speaking of Nexus 8, we have talked so much. Long time before, we have disclosed some news about it, but till now, this tablet is still not available. So we are even doubting if this Nexus 8 is really existing. But today, as our latest news, this Nexus 8 may be very nearing to be available. And its detail information is disclosed as well.

As our latest from Ontablets, Nexus 8 will be available for sale within this year. But it did not tell the exact date. Unit will run the latest Android L operation system. It has wifi and LTE editions. The wifi edition will be sold to different countries including Japan and Korea. The LTE edition will be available in Australia, New Zealand, Korean, HK and other areas. Except this unit, Google will already launch some accessories for this unit, including the Magic Cover, Keyboard Folio etc.

 

Till now, everything about this Nexus 8 is still not settled down, no people know its price, detail specification, and release date etc, so maybe we have to wait longer for official news about it, or maybe it is even not available forever.

Tablet sales in second quarter of 2014

As the data from IDC, in the 2nd quarter of 2104, the tablet sales is decreased by 1.5% compared with the 1st quarter. But compared with the 2nd quarter of 2013, it is increased by 11%. It tells, in the past on year, the demand of tablets is still increasing a lot.

 

As the competition from big screen smart phones, the sales of tablets is not as good as expectation, and the demand of commercial tablets stopped increasing in the 2nd quarter. But IDC believed commercial tablets will be in high demand in the second half of this year.

 

In 2nd quarter, iPad has totally been sold 13.3 million pieces, taking 27% market share. Samsung still ranked 2nd, its sales volume is 8.5 millions pieces, taking 17.2% market share. But Samsung has taken 22.3% market share in the first quarter of 2014.

 

Lenovo has overtaken ASUS, and ranked at 3rd spot in the list. It takes 4.9% market share. ASUS only ranked 4th, and took 4.6% market share.

 

Except the top five brand names, other OEM tablets has taken more and more market share. In the 2nd quarter of 2013, it only took 37% market, and in 2014, it has already taken 44.4% market share.

 

Usually, in 3rd quarter, the sales will be increased a lot. So We can believe, the OEM tablets suppliers will own more market share in the 3rd quarter.
