Samsung will acquire Blackberry?

A rocking news from suverimax.com, Samsung will pay about 7.5 billion US dollars to acquire Blackberry. So Samsung will own a lot of Blackberry patents.

The initial price Samsung offered is 13.35 to 15.49 US dollars per share, and totally 6 to 7.5 billion US dollars including about 1.25 billiion US dollars convertible debt. Now, Samsung is talking with Blackberry about this acquire.

But soon, Blackberry denied this news, and announced that  the news is not true, and Blackberry will not comment on the news.

In fact, it is not the first time. In last year, Fairfax Financial will acquire Blackberry by 4.7 billion US dollars. And it is failed finally. Apple and Microsoft are also very interesting in Blackberry as well.

Mediatek sales volume is 6.68 billion US dollars in 2014

Report from ontablets.es, as the demand of smart phone is increasing in 2014, the sales volume of Mediatek is 6.68 billion US dollars, that is new record. Mediatek announced that in Dec, 2014, its sales volume is about 535.5 million US dollars, compared with last year, it is increased by 30%. In the forth quarter of 2014, the total sales volume is about 1.74 billion US dollars. Compared with last year, this number is reduced by 3.5%.

In the forth quarter of 2014, the demand from market for Mediatek 4G chipset is very high. In 2014, the smartphone chipset from Mediatek is sold about 350 million pieces. About 30 million pieces of them are 4G chipset. But since the competition, in 2015, the profit of Mediatek in 2015 may be reduced.

In fact, several months ago, CEO of Mediatek has already announced that sales of its 4G chipset will be over 30 million pieces in 2014, and will take about 20% of its total sales volume

Teclast Core M DIY tablet PC

Cube launched its first tablet PC with Intel Core M processor. Following Cube, other tablet pc suppliers are also trying to launch their 2 in 1 tablet pc with Core M. But different with other suppliers, Teclast launched a DIY plan. Users can vote for the configuration of their desired specification for this Teclast first Core M 2 in 1 tablet pc.

Users can vote for the CPU model, RAM, flash memory, screen, and network. Teclast has listed some options. Regarding the CPU, users can choose Intel Core M 5Y71, Core M 5Y51, Core M 5Y10C and Core M 5Y10. RAM has two options, 2GB and 4GB. There are two options for screen as well. One is 11.6 inch IPS with 1920*1080 pixels, and 12.2 inch IPS with 2560*1600 pixels. Network has 3G and 4G LTE, two options.

Users can not vote for the cameras and body material. As estimation, this tablet pc will be about 400 to 450 euros at highest.

Amount of tablet users in 2015 will reach 1 billion

As one report from suverimax.com, in 2015, the tablet sales will keep on reducing, and this situation may not change in following years. As estimation, in 2015, the amount of tablet users will reach 1 billion, and in 2018, this number will be increased to 1.4 billion. In 2014, the total sales of tablet is 236 million pieces, compared with 2013, it is increased by about 8%.

As the demand of tablet in developed countries, like Europe and US, is full, and in new market, the demand is very low. For people in new market, the price of tablet is not so cost effective. More important, the phablet with big screen size affect the sales of tablet as well.

As estimation, 1/3 of tablet users will be from China, about 328 million. India is another big market of tablets.

14nm Intel Cherry Trial

Except the Broadwell chipset, Intel also launched its 14nm Cherry Trial chipset for tablets.All the SOC can support both Android and Windows OS. And from last week, this Cherry Trial will be for sale. It adopts the latest 14nm process technology.

Except the 14nm process technology, there are two updates for this Cherry Trail.

First, the Airmont CPU framework is newer than Silvermont framework adopted by Bay Trail.

Second, GPU performance of Cherry Trail is enhanced. This Cherry Trail does not adopt the Ivy Bridge GPU, but Broadwell GPU.

Cherry Trail adopt the same GPU as Broadwell, but its EU is less than Broadwell. Some news said the Cherry Trail GPU only has 16 EU. As we know, the Intel HD 5500 has 24 EU, and Intel HD6000 has 48 EU.

This Cherry Trail can work with the Intel XMM 726x series LTE modem, so it will allows the devices to surf network. As Intel said, this Cherry Trail will be for sale in the first quarter of 2015.

First 2 in 1 tablet with Intel Core M processor from Ramos

In this CES 2015, Ramos launched its first 2 in 1 tablet with Intel Core M processor, Ramos M12. This unit will be soon available for sale in suverimax.com

The keyboard of this Ramos M12 can be removable. Its screen size is 11.6 inch. It can be used in office and in journey as well.

Ramos M12 adopts the Intel Core M 5Y70. The performance is excellent, and design is also very slim. M12 has USB3.0 and Micro HDMI host.

In last Sept, Intel launched its latest Core M processor, its high performance interests many tablets suppliers in China. And in 2015, the 2 in 1 tablets with Intel Core M will be future. Now, in market, there is few units with Intel Core M. Ramos did not tell its price, and when will be available. We will follow up further news about it in following days.

Chuwi VL8 octa core tablet

We have seen some new products from big and well known companies. Following, let’s see some new tablets from China. Recently, people have disclosed a new Chuwi tablet pc, and its performance is not bad.

The model number is Chuwi VL8. Unit owns 8 inch IPS screen, and unit body adopts the tempered glasses on both sides. CPU is the MTK6752 octa core processor, RAM is 2GB, and flash memory is 16GB. Front camera is 2M pixels, and rear camera is 5M pixels. Built in battery is 5000Mah. Unit can support dual 4G SIM card, and dual standby. But we can not make sure if it can support a TF card to extend memory for now.

LG G Flex 2 smart phone with curved screen

In the CES 3015, LG launched its new generation smart phone with curved screen, LG G Flex 2. Compared with last generation, its self restore will not take 3 minutes, only within 10 seconds, it will finish the restore at soonest.

This mobile phone runs the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, and offer new KnockCode function. And its screen is processed by special technology, and durability is about 20% enhanced than before.

G Flex 2 support the fast recharge function, its battery capacity is 3000Mah, but within 40 minutes, it can be recharged 50%.

G Flex 2 adopts the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64 bit octa core processor, frequency is 2.0GHz. Screen size is 5.5 inch P-OLED, resolution is 1920*1080 pixels, PPI is 403. RAM is the latest 2GB DDR4, and flash memory is 16GB or 32GB eMMC. User can extend memory by TF card up to 2TB. The front camera is 2.1M pixels, and rear camera is 13M pixels. New ASUS MEMO Pad 7 and Fonepad 7 in CES 2015

Yesterday, ASUS launched its new products in the CES 2015. They include the smart phones, tablets, and laptop PC etc. Regarding the new tablets, ASUS launched the new MEMO Pad 7 and Fonepad 7. Especially the ASUS Memo Pad 7, its screen and CPU performance are enhanced a lot than last generation.

The new Memo Pad 7 looks similar as old generation. There are golden, pink and black colors. Obviously, it is aiming to youth. Unit owns one 7 inch IPS screen, resolution is 1920*1200 pixels. Compared with last generation, the resolution is much higher. It can support 10 touch points. CPU is the Intel Atom Z3560 which is one 64 bit chipset. RAM is 2GB. Flash memory is 32GB and 64GB. The front camera is 2M pixels, and rear camera is 5M pixels. The battery life is over 11 hours.

The new FonePad 7 does not have any surprise. Screen size is 7 inch, but resolution is only 1024*600 pixels. CPU is the Intel Atom Z2520. RAM can be 1GB or 2GB, front camera is 2M pixels, rear camera is 8M pixels. Unit can support GPS and 3G network.

ASUS did not tell the price of the two units, and when will they be available. We will have further reports in following days.

Blue Link Android Wear APP fro Hyundai

From last year, smart wearing devices become more popular. In meanwhile, the auto manufacturers are also trying to follow the trend. Last year, Hyundai, one auto manufacturer from Korea, launched its own Blue Link in car system, and demonstrated it on Google Glass to us. Several days before, Hyundai announced that it added some new features to the APP for the Android Wear OS. New Blue Link Android Wear APP will be available at early of this year.

The old APP can support car engine stop and start, HID flash, locking/unlocking doors, and position your cars. If you can not find your car, you can use the smart watch to position it, and if you like, you can send the location of your car to Google Map, So users can operate on smart phones.

If you own a smart watch with Android Wear OS, and a Hyundai auto with Blue Link, then you can experience the new features.

Till now, Hyundai did not tell what is the new feature of the Blue Link.
