What tablets will be welcome in 2015

In 2014, though there are a lot of new tablets available, but most of them do not have unique features. But in 2015, the situation may be changed. CEO of Suverimax said, in 2015, there will be more unique tablets in market. So what kind of tablets will be welcome in 2015.

First, low price tablets will be welcomed. In 2014, Amazon has launched one tablet only 99 US dollars. These cheap tablets are the first choices for users who can not afford high price. Though those tablets are quite cheap, but they can meet some basic demand, like email, video, surf network etc. In 2015, the demand of cheap tablets will be still high.

Second, unique features. In 2014, there are some tablets coming with unique features, like, Apple iPad Air 2, and Samsung Tab S come with the Touch ID function. Dell Venue 8 7000 comes with 3D camera. Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro has built in projector function. Though most of the unique feature is not used often, but they are still the good news for users. In 2015, we may see more tablets with interesting features.

Third, Middle size will be welcome. Now, in market, the screen size is from 5 inch to 13 inch. In past years, the most welcome screen size is about 7 inch. As it is more portable, and good for watching videos, it is the best screen size. But during 2014, the 8 inch to 9 inch screen size is becoming more welcome. As screen size bigger, and also quite portable, price is not expensive as well, like ASUS Memo Pad 8, they are becoming more popular in 2015.

Qualcomm cooperated with Huawei finishing LTE Cat.9 test

Today Qualcomm announced that it cooperated with Huawei and EE which is one UK network dealer, and succeeded in finishing the LTE Cat.9 testing. The download speed is amazing 410Mbps, equals to 51.25Mb/s.

This test adopted the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and the integrated LTE-A base band. The commercial network infrastructure solution is from Huawei, and the LTE-A 4G+ network is from EE.

The base band of the Snapdragon is from MDM 9×35. It can only support Cat.6 at beginning, and its max download speed is about 300Mbps. But after upgrading, it can support three 20MHz carrier aggregation. Max download speed is enhanced 450Mbps, nearly 50% faster than before.

During the test, only three carrier sync are adopted, that means the performance can be enhanced further in future.

Information of Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra

Latest news from Ontablets, Sony will launch its latest flagship tablet, Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra. From the model name, we can see the screen size of this Z4 will be bigger. It may be 12.9 inch. After five years, now, the demand of tablets is reduced in 2014. So many suppliers launched big screen size tablets to increase the demand. Till now, Samsung has launched the 12.2 inch Galaxy Note Pro, and Microsoft also launched the 12 inch Surface Pro 3. And Apple may also launch 12.9 inch iPad Pro.

Samsung 14nm process technology is for mass production

Several months ago, Intel had its latest 14nm process for mass production. And last month, several Intel 14nm processors are launched for sale. On the other hand, TSMC is still developing its 16nm process technology, and till now, it is not available for sale. Today, CEO of Samsung told, its 14nm FinFET technology is available for mass production. But he did not tell what products are available for mass production.

It is quite possible that product in mass production is the Apple S1 processor which is adopted by the Apple Watch. As news from Ontablets, Apple has already placed order of Apple S1 processor to Samsung. The other possibility is Apple A9 processor for iPhone and iPad. But it is quite early to make a conclusion.

At early of this year, Samsung has already displayed its 14nm process samples to its clients. And it is quite satisfying. Samsung has made cooperation with GlobalFoundries to produce 14nm processors.

Samsung told the performance of its 14nm process technology is enhanced by 20% compared with 20nm process of TSMC, and power consumption is 35% lower, and size is 15% smaller.

Performance of Huaiwe 64 bit processor

At early of this month, Huawei launched its first 64 bit octa core processor, Kirin 620. It is based on ARM Cortex A53 framework, and 28nm process technology. GPU is Mali 450 MP4. It can support LPDDR3, and 13M pixel cameras at max. Recently, Ontablets tested one smart phone with this Kirin 620 octa core processor.

This smart phone owns one 5.5 inch IPS screen, resolution is 720P. RAM is 1GB. The front camera is 5M pixels, and rear camera is 13M pixels. Its operation system is Android 4.4.2 OS. After tested, this smart phone is scored by about 28 thousand. Compared with other top smart phones which are scored by over 50 thousand, the performance of this smart phone is not good. But the smart phone is one demo unit, so in future, its performance may be enhanced. But as this Kirin 620 is for low end market, so you can not expect it too much.

Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 lands India

This morning, Lenovo announced its Yoga Tablet 2 will land India at the end of this year. And from 10th, Dec, Yoga Tablet 2 will be sold exclusively by Flipkart which is the biggest online retailer in India. Its price is about 630 euros.

Yoga Tablet 2 is the upgrade edition of Yoga Tablet. It has the same looks as last generation. But its performance is enhanced dramatically. It adopts one 13.3 inch IPS screen, resolution is 2560*1440 pixels. CPU is the Intel Atom Z3745 processor. Frequency is 1.83GHz. RAM is 2GB, and flash memory is 32GB. Lenovo launched K3 smart phone, only 100 euros
